AND LASERS

Polishing lenses, prisms, YAG crystals

Fractions 0.25–1 μm for precision polishing of optical parts. Low scratch count, Ra down to 0.2 nm, batch-to-batch stability.

Problems and our solutions

Typical problems

  • Scratches after polishing
  • High roughness Ra > 1 nm
  • Batch-to-batch instability

How we solve it

  • Strict control of oversized particles
  • Fractions from 0.25 μm for finish stages
  • State lab protocol on request

Technical details: optics

Polishing optical components (lenses, prisms, windows, CaF₂, ZnSe crystals, sapphire) requires ultra-fine diamond micron powder with minimal size dispersion and extremely low magnetic inclusion content. Even a single oversized grain can cause a point defect on the optical surface, making quality control critically important.

Recommended grit sizes

  • W20 – W14 — rough lapping after grinding, removing grinding scratches
  • W10 – W7 — medium lapping, surface preparation for polishing
  • W5 – W3.5 — fine polishing, wavefront accuracy λ/4 – λ/10
  • W2.5 – W0.5 — super-polishing, atomically smooth surface for laser optics

Purity and control

For the optical industry, we offer micron powder with Fe+Ni+Co content < 65 ppm and magnetic inclusions < 0.1%. Each batch comes with a particle size analysis report specifying D10, D50, D90 and maximum grain size. Official Chinese state lab reports available on request. For critical applications (laser optics, IR optics), we recommend ordering samples for testing before bulk purchase.
